"The King of the Waters", Concept
Photo-Paint
May 2009

This concept is a similarly epic representation like "The Fall of the Great Lights". I also thought long about perspective, composition and pane. However, the most difficult challenges are sometimes the easiest ones if you simply change the point of view. Sometimes I look at miniatures with varied textures, for hours, to get inspired and let arise a picture. Thus I found a photo of the Hubble Telescope very interesting, and it delivered the base for the bright-dark ciaroscuro of this concept. Furthermore the focus was the central element - a mystical figure. My intention was to avoid any physical dimensions comparison, and to show the figure as unsubstantially and - nevertheless - plausibly as possible. At last, the mammoth size was a result of the dramatic illumination with back light and the worm's-eye view. Otherwise the small man in the foreground could also have been a dwarf. To underline the drama, I turned the picture by some degrees. Thus an immense dynamism was applied to the picture, and that corresponded absolutely to my idea!
